Son Claims Dzu Was Offered Post Of P.M.
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) PALO ALTO (California), October 12. South Vietnam’s military regime had offered the Prime Ministership to the controversial peace campaigner, Truong Dinh Dzu, according to his 22-year-old student son.
But the offer was made only on condition that Mr Dzu—who finished second in last month’s Presidential elections—accepted orders from President Nguyen Van Thieu and his vice-presiden-tial running mate, Air ViceMarshal Nguyen Cao Ky, he said.
His father was arrested in Saigon on September 29 on charges of holding press conferences without Government permission and defaming a court judge. He was released on October 5.
David Truong said his father told the regime he would . only become Prime Minister if General Thieu and Marshal Ky accepted his six-point peace programme, which includes unconditional cessation of United States
bombing in the North and negotiations with the Viet Cong.
