Described by counsel as the “first casualty of 10 o’clock closing" to come before the Magistrate’s Court James Wilson Kerr, aged 27, a driver, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Mr T. A. Ross, S.M., today on a charge of having driven while under the influence of drink or drug Convicting Kerr and fining him $l3O, the Magistrate emphasised that this was “an example of the misuse of the greater responsibility which accompanies the privileges of extended hours for those who see fit to drink and then drive.”
