(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. The New Zealand basketball team defeated Melbourne Golds 54-18 at Melbourne on a fast surface but in biting winds on Saturday. New Zealand found an initial difficulty in clearing the ball through the centre, but accurate shooting from M. Sullivan and J. Harnett ensured New Zealand victory. The first quarter ended 14-4. the second 27-6, and the third 42-10.
