Minimum To Be Raised

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. Because of the likelihood of a shortage of light-weight riders the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club has decided to have a 7st 71b minimum in the two main sprints at its spring meeting on September 23 and 27, the Members’ and Visitors' Handicaps. The usual minimum is 7st.

The secretary (Mr A. E. Wishart) said yesterday that after the winter many jockeys had difficulty getting near the 7st , minimum. His committee felt It would be in the interests of most owners to raise the minimum for the sprints to 7st 71b.
