TROTTING Splendid Entries For Addington

With the exception of one race, fields of outstanding strength have been received for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s national meeting to be run at Addington Raceway on August 19 and 26.

The exception is the Templeton Handicap, the race for 2:14 class horses on the first day of the meeting. Only 11 nominations, including three from one stable, have been received. The Louisson Handicap, the main race for pacers on the first day of the meeting, has drawn 17 entries, including Viking Water and Great Adios, two of the seven horses from the Auckland district entered for the meeting. They will meet such well-perfonned South Islandtrained horses as Waitaki Hanover, Cuddle Doon, Disband, Chequer Board, Happy Ending and Julie Hanover. Nineteen entries have been received for the National Handicap, the corresponding race on the second day of the meeting. The two additional runners are Lordship and Bright Highland. Entries for the main races for trotters are also of high calibre. They include Immortal, Mountain Pride and Single Cash, from the Auckland district, and French Pass, from Wellington. The South Island entries include Asia Minor, Queen’s Cord, Harbour Light, Glen Dee, Break Through and Irons. Some of the leading two-year-old pacers of last season have been entered for the Canterbury Stakes on the second day of the meeting. Cardinal King, one of the top three-year-olds of the last season will compete in open handicap events.
