5000 Arab Casualties
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CAIRO, July 3. Egypt suffered about 5000 casualties in the Middle East war, the newspaper “Al Ahram” said.
The figure was the first to come from any well-placed Egyptian source since the sixday war which destroyed most of the country’s Air Force and Armoured Corps. Israel suffered 679 dead and more than 2500 injured, according to official Israeli figures released soon after the fighting. Jordanian dead were estimated at 15,000.
