STALKER SHOT
(N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, April 10. A deerstalker, mistaken for a deer, was accidentally shot dead in the upper regions of the Waipahihi Valley. 18 miles north of Waiouru, about 2 p.m. today. He was Raoul Bettany, aged 31, married, with three children, of Tltirangi. Mr Bettany, with Russell Wallace Day, of Henderson, was hunting in the scrubcoated valley which is 12 miles east of the Desert road. Police said Mr Day had fired at a movement which he thought was a brown deer. It was his friend, who was wearing a brown shirt.
