“Not View Of All”
(N.Z. Preu Association) AUCKLAND, March 31. Statements made by Mr R. J. Wardlaw, the president of the New Zealand Association of Presbyterian Laymen, should in no sense be taken as expressing the opinions of the non-ministerial members of the Presbyterian Church as a whole, said the clerk of the Auckland Presbytery (the Bev. L. R. Miller) today. The association yesterday sent a telegram to the Moderator. the Rt Rev. S. C. Read, requesting a special meeting of the general assembly, to discuss the possible ..dismissal of Professor Geering, principal of Knox Theological College.
Mr Miller said: “Mr Wardlaw speaks for the Association of Presbyterian Laymen, an organisation unrecognised by the courts of the church. “The numercial strength of the association is something which Mr Wardlaw could, no doubt, aimounce, but at the November, 1966, assembly Mr Wardlaw claimed the support of about 5000, less than 6 per cent of the total Presbyterian
