DECISION SOON
Further Aid To Malaysia
Crspdt. HZ.PA.) KUALA LUMPUR, Mar. 31. “The withdrawal of troops from Malaysia for service in Vietnam does not detract from our determination to retain a battalion in Malaysia,” the New Zealand Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today. He said it was hoped that the troops would leave Terendak “within two or three months”—preferably before the rainy season set in in Vietnam. Mr Thomson said future New Zealand military aid for Malaysia was under consideration. An announcement would probably be made when the Malaysian Minister of Defence (Tun Abdul Razak) visited New Zealand early in April. ‘1 hope Mr Holyoake will have something definitely resolved on this matter when the Tun reaches Wellington,” he said.
