Electrical Loan

A £30,000 electrical loan being raised by the Rangiora Borough Council is progressing slowly, said the Town Clerk (Mr R. Ward). Only £Bl5O has been raised since the loan opened in December. The Local Authorities Loans Board indicated to the December meeting of the council that favourable consideration would be given to an application to transfer £7500 unspent balance of the Office Extension Loan to the Electrical Reticulation Loan and the council has now made application for this. The loan is for extensions, improvements, and renewals to the borough’s electrical system. Storm Water Construction hat started on the stormwater relief project along Blackett street. The con* tractors have started trench digging from the railway end of the street. The stormwater sewer is being installed on the north aide of the street up to the King street intersection. The new sewer is planned to overcome surface flooding at the Intersection of several streets with Blackett street, particularly at Ashley. Good and Durham streets. The contract includes also the installation of stormwater relief channels across High street at the intersections of White, Ayers and Church streets, where ponding has occurred at times of heavy rain.
