The Christchurch athlete. Miss D. Charteris, was the only New Zealand winner in the first six events of the women’s athletics transTasman competition. At Melbourne, competing against Victorian and New South Wales opponents, Miss Charteris won the shot put with 49ft 8 jin. Points after the first meeting are: Victoria, 31; New Zealand, 26; New South Wales, 23.
