WOMEN IN CHURCH
‘Chance For New Roles’ (N.Z. Press Association) 1 AUCKLAND. The absence of women from the governing body of the Roman Catholic Church did not mean women could not have responsibility in the church, said Miss Rosemary Goldie, the first woman appointed to the Roman Curia. “In judging any situation you have to have men and women together to approach problems from all angles,” she said today. “It’s the same in the church.”
Women were taking up new roles in society and could have new responsibilities in the church, she said.
