CHURCH HAS BIG TASK

Windfall Of Used Stamps Few church groups which decide to collect used stamps as a means of collecting funds start off with the half ton of stamped envelopes the Church of Christ at Bryndwr tackled last evening. Having decided that collecting used stamps would be his family’s effort towards funds for a church building, Mr J. S. Benfell, the accountant of a city store casually asked the mail room supervisor if he had any stamps available. He was told that there were a few bundles in a downstairs room.

When Mr Benfell investigated he discovered eight post office mail sacks full of stamped envelopes. A station waggon belonging to a minister of the church, Mr J. Woodroff, was brought to collect the windfall start to the stamp project, but it could only take six bags. Each is estimated to weigh about 1001 b.

A dealer is being sought to buy the stamps.
