BURGLARY CHARGES

Wallet Found In Office

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Nov. 29,

When Noel David Husband, a 35-year-old workman, appeared for trial in the Supreme Court Auckland, today, on three charges of burglary, it was said that a wallet containing a garage invoice in his name was found in one office where a safe had been “blown.”

Husband pleaded not guilty to all charges. Evidence concerning the finding of the wallet containing the invoice was given by Constable A D. Orme. Detective-Constable J. Hutton said in evidence that during a search of a room in Parnell road formerly occupied by the accused he found on top of a wardrobe a tobacco tin containing a piece of gelignite and two detonators.

Asked for an explanation, husband replied: “Look, I am not the only one in on safes. And I’ll tell you I didn't “pack’ the safes in the Empire Building, so what about giving a man a break.” The case, before Mr Justice Greeson and a jury, will continue tomorrow.
