W.D.F.F. NEWS

The president (Mrs W. T. R. Rowe) welcomed delegates of 33 branches to the Canterbury provincial meeting of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. The housekeeping secretary reported that two housekeepers were being kept in constant work. Arrangements for the W.D.F.F. and Country Women’s Institute day of talent on October 31 are in the hands of the co-ordinating committee. Branch reports.— HALSWELL entertained 80 elderly people. A group from the Townswomen’s Guild provided songs and sketches. DARFIELD visited a telephone exchange. GREENPARK entertained a busload of people from Outings Anonymous. BOON HAY has Invited two patients from Sunnyside to become members. Members invited friends and relatives to a picture evening, and gave money to Marylands from the proceeds of a sales table. STYX held a successful jumble sale and members of its singing circle entertained the aged and the sick. OURUHIA entertained 40 people from the Aged People’s Welfare Council. The branch drama group provided a humorous sketch.

YALDHURST challenged the patients at Hornby Lodge to a weekly game of bowls, with cards for non-bowlers. BROOKLANDS watched a cake-icing demonstration by Mrs G. Lyall. ROLLESTON took its adopted patients from Templeton to Christchurch Airport far afternoon tea.
