Nicklaus And Casper Lead (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) AKRON (Ohio). J. Nicklaus and W. Casper each shot a par-70 on Friday to share the lead after the first round of the 77,500dollar World Series golf invitation tournament. The other players in the fourman competition, A. Geiberger and G. Littler, were one stroke back at 71. The two-day event over the 7180-yard Firestone Country Club course, carries a top prize of 50,000 dollars. Nicklaus has won tw0—1962 and 1963 —of the previous four world series played. The competition is Intended to match the winners of four major tournaments United States and British Opens, United States Masters and United States P.G.A. Nicklaus is the 1966 Masters and British Open champion, Casper took the United States Open, and Geiberger the P.G.A. Because Nicklaus had captured two of the qualifying tournaments, Littler, the Canadian Open winner, was invited.
