Thomson Beats N. Coles
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The Australian, P. W. Thomson, won the “News of the World” professional match-play golf championship for a third time at Walton Heath, Surrey, on Friday. He collected £1250 in prize money. Thomson showed the brilliance and consistency of a master golfer when, in the 18hole final he beat the holder, N. Coles (Britain), two and one. His success robbed the Ryder Cup player of his ambition to become the first to record a hattrick in the event.
