INVITATION TO JAPAN
Union Official ‘ln Difficulties’ (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, August 9. ! The national secretary of > the Dairy Workers’ Union j (Mr S. Wheatley), has been invited to give a series of I addresses in Japan on aspects I of the New Zealand dairy in-1 dustry. But Mr Wheatley, whose union has been outspoken in | its criticism of the Hamiltoni City Council’s proposed sewage treatment plant site, said today the invitation to visit | Japan has placed him in a ■ difficult position. | “I am hesitant to accept any such invitation while the controversy over the siting of a sewage treatment plant in close proximity to the potenial showplace of the dairy industry remains unresolved,” he said. ! “I could be placed in a (very embarrassing situation."
Tools Stolen.—Tools valued at £67 7s 6d, were stolen when the premises of C. S. A. Agencies, 11 Lismore street, .were broken into on Monday ) night.
