BUDGET TALKS

Cabinet On Economy (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 17. The Cabinet discussed the economy when it met on the second day of its two-day meeting today. “We discussed our approach to the Budget," said the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake). He said the British Budget would be considered. But he dismissed any suggestion that the seamen’s strike could have any bearing on the Budget because there were “too many imponderables." “The economy is expanding very satisfactorily. There is a spirit of over-confidence in the community and although the economy is moving slightly too fast, it is better than too slow,” said Mr Holyoake.
