Progress With Review
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 17. The Cabinet made “real progress” with the defence review today, the Prime Minister (Mr Hoiyoake) said tonight. “We discussed the review, but it requires just a little more study. “I would not think it will be necessary to call another meeting of the Defence Committee. Another Cabinet meeting should be adequate.”
Fined For Fighting.— Charged with fighting in Norwich quay just before midnight on Monday, Philip John Hesketh, aged 19, a seaman, and Douglas Earle Rudge, aged 24, a steward, were fined £5 and £7 10s respectively, when they appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton yesterday, before Messrs D. Loader and L. J. Shuker, Justices of the Peace. They pleaded guilty.
