Labour Surplus At Lyttelton
Too much waterfront labour at Lyttelton yesterday resulted in 324 men being sent home. Only 358 men were required to man the Titoki, Rakaia, Awanui, Hinemoa and Port Montreal. It was the port’s third day with surplus labour. Rain late yesterday interrupted work.
