GROWTH OF SPORT

Table Tennis Promotion Let 1966 be “development year” for table tennis in New Zealand, says the chairman of the New Zealand Table Tennis Association. Mr J. E. Stewart, of Wellington, in his report to be presented to the annual meeting of the association in Wellington today. Last year, significant progress had been made to further develop table tennis, he adds, but a lot remained to be done. Membership and the standard of table tennis would only improve if administrators offered attractions that were as good as or better than other sports.

Reports on development submitted by 12 provincial associations had shown that in the last year increased emphasis had been placed on coaching, encouraging the sport in schools, improving conditions for inter-chib play, and promoting junior competition.
