BOXING TRIAL
Kini Gains Points Win (N.Z. Press Association > WELLINGTON. I The chairman of the New Zealand Boxing Association (Mr H. N. Hunt) said last evening that boxing nominations for the Empire Games in Jamaica would probably be available on May 2. The association wanted to “look again” at some of the boxers, he said. The Auckland heavy-weight, W. Kini, beat R. Kelly, of Australia, on points in his final trial bout at Wellington last evening. He rocked Kelly in the final round but there was little clean punching. Kelly proved an elusive target, and the bout would have given Kini little satisfaction. The light heavy-weight, R. Forder, of Wellington, beat D. McGrath, of Australia, on points. It was a split decision. In a professional featherweight contest, T. George (New Zealand) beat R. Perez. (United States) on points over 10 rounds.
