Giving Riders Bad Name
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Irresponsible people on surf boards were giving the sport of surf riding a bad name, the vice-president of the New Zealand Surf Riders’ Association, Mr C. Davis, said this week. If irresponsible surfers were allowed to keep riding on dangerous beaches there would be a fatality and all surf riders will be blamed unfairly. Mr Davis said that every member of a surf riding club was trained to handle big surf and knew when to go out and when not to. “It is the weekend surfer who causes the trouble,” he said. “People hiring surf boards to the general public could help by not allowing their boards to be taken into dangerous surf,”
