Increase To £256,835 (N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Jan. 17. Group net profit on Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, Pty., Ltd., rose from an adjusted £227,645 to £256,835 in the year to September 30. The company is Australia’s largest plane maker. It is making the mirage fighter for the R.A.A.F. Commonwealth Aircraft’s £2,099,997 paid capital is owned by a group of seven leading Australian companies. B.H.P. By Products, Pty., Ltd., owns 699,999 £1 shares, Broken Hill Associated Smelters, Pty.. Ltd., and Broken Hill South, Ltd., each have 262,500 shares, Nobel (Australasia) Pty., Ltd., (an 1.C.1.A.N.Z. subsidiary) has 315,000 shares. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., has 210,000 shares and P. and 0., Company, of Aust. Pty., Ltd., and Electrolytic Zinc Company of Australasia, Ltd., each have 174,999 shares.
The higher profit was after a big lift in tax up from £BB,OOO to £159,000. Depreciation was almost doubled from £42,287 to £81,262. A steady 8 per cent dividend absorbing £168,000 was paid.
K.P. Drug Note Allotment (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. Directors of Kempthorne Prosser and Company’s New Zealand Drug Company allotted £590,900 in 11,818 7 per cent unsecured notes of £5O each on December 20, according to the New Zealand Stock Exchange Association. Certificates are being sent but the company is prepared to mark transfers now. Final payment in respect of notes allotted £25 paid is due on March 31.
