DRINK AND DRIVING

Free Funeral Offer

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright)

BURLINGTON (Vermont), December 28.

The "Burlington Free Press” is this year renewing its standing offer of a free funeral for anyone planning to drink and drive on New Year’s Eve. A total of 39 people have registered for possible funerals since the offer was first made four years ago, but none of them has collected.

The offer is part of the paper’s campaign to cut down the heavy traffic toll in the State by emphasising “how ridiculous it is to drink and drive,” a spokesman for the paper said. Among those who responded to the offer a year or two ago were four people from Adelaide.
