Chrysler-Rootes Merger
Chrysler Australia, Ltd., has taken over the operations of Rootes (Australia), Ltd. The chairman and managing director of Chrysler (Australia), Ltd. (Mr David H. Brown) announcing this, said Rootes (Australia) Ltd. would become the Melbourne plant of Chrysler (Australia) Ltd. The acquisition of Rootes gives Chrysler an assembly plant at Fishermen’s Bend, Victoria, a full range of passenger cars, the biggest truck range in Australia, and a greatly increased dealer network. It will also enable Chrysler to increase output of the Valiant and give Chrysler an increased market penetration.
