PROPERTY VALUES

Inspection In Three Areas The urban field staff of the Valuation Department has begun to inspect properties in the Riccarton borough. The inspections are being made under the supervision of the district valuer (Mr M. D. Kilpatrick) and will form the basis on which new valuations will be issued late next year. Property inspections are also in progress in the Mqunt Herbert county under Mr J. R. Kingston and in the Oxford and Ashley counties under Mr J. D. Gregan. Early next year the department will begin to inspect properties in the Kowai county. Before the end of the current financial year new valuations for the Greymouth borough and Ashburton county will be issued. The branch manager of the department (Mr V. R. Aitken) said yesterday that all valuation officers carried cards identifying them as representatives of the department. Any householder could demand to see the card, but legally could not refuse. the officer entry to the premises.
