Minor Fires
A small fire in the roof of the laundry at the School for -[Deaf, Sumner, caused only ) slight damage yesterday aftert noon. Sumner and Woolston firemen answered the alarm • given at 3.50 p.m. f A gorse fire in a vacant i section in Solway avenue - caused no damage to proi perty. Headquarters and - Sockburn firemen, called at ) 5.9 p.m., put out the fire. A grass fire in a vacant section , in Cavendish road about 5.33 , p.m. was attended to by St. r Albans firemen. Children , playing with matches are t thought to have started the > fire, which caused no damage, t Fire in the engine of an . old-model car, driven by . David Burnett, caused slight s damage. The fire broke out * when the car was outside 78A - Dyers Pass road. Sydenham firemen answered the alarm. t
