July Figures ‘Encouraging’ (N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) OXFORD, August 12. The president of the Board of Trade (Mr Jay) compained yesterday that in spite of Britain’s encouraging export figures there were “still too many laggards who find the home market too easy.” They weakened the pound and held back the whole national advance, he told the Advertising Association dinner at New College, Oxford. “It is fully within Our capacity, as the record July exports have again shown, to balance our overseas accounts next year and re-establish impregnable' defences for sterling,” said Mr Jay.
