Agreement On Lottery
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 15. The request that Golden Kiwi lottery agents open a separate trust account for their lottery money has been suspended. The Auckland Provincial Master Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’ Association says this decision was reached in Wellington yesterday when Mr N. McArthur, representing the organising company, met representatives of the New Zealand Retail Tobacconists’ and Hairdressers’ Federation. The association’s statement says Hammond and McArthur, Ltd., will find out if an insurance indemnity is availabale to cover it against any loss on lottery money caused by a “defaulting” agent. The meeting also agreed that the requirement that existing agents must have a telephone will not be implemented, but any new agencies must comply. The organisers’ right to ap-
prove the transfer of an agency or to appoint a new agent was recognised. It was agreed the Government should be asked to set up an appeal committee open to anybody with a grievance arising from a decision by the organiser. The association’s statement says Mr McArthur agreed not to reduce the
number of agents in New Zealand. Whenever revisions of the agency agreement are proposed, he will consult the trade associations before sending out the agreement. The meeting accepted Mr McArthur’s proposal that if an agent’s sales fail below six books, the agency may be terminated.
