COAL FOR JAPAN
No Figure Yet (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 15. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today no firm figure had been reached as to how much West Coast coal Japan might want for steel making. Mr Holyoake had been asked at a press conference after the Government caucus to comment on the estimated multi-million pound deal now under consideration. He said it was an interesting development but as yet only in the exptoratory stages. Mr Holyoake had talks with representatives of the promoting firms, Tosu, Ltd., and Nippon Kokan, Ltd., when he was in Japan.
