Tree-Planting By Trainees
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 2. Trainees from Invercargill Borstal are to plant trees in the Mid-Dome area, near Parawa, for the Southland Catchment Board. The Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan), said tonight a similar oroject was undertaken . for the board last , year when 46.000 trees were planted by trainees.
He said it was hoped to plant 50,000 trees this year as part of the long-term conservancy programme. Mr Hanan said inmates of the borstal would be specially selected for the scheme. They would work long hours for six days a week.
