The Gap In Line-outs

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 21. The New Zealand Rugby Union’s executive is concerned at the apparent misunderstanding about the current line-out law’s.

At a meeting tonight the chairman, Mr T. C. Morrison, said there was no need for a wide gap between the lines, as some referees and players thought. Mr C. A. Blazey read the official interpretation of the law which calls for “a clear space, a definite space visible to the referee ” “In other words, it means that the referee only has to be able to see between the lines. He certainly does not have to be able to walk between the lines or anything like that.”
