Letters Of Thanks “This is of tremendous help to us in training ministers.” said the secretary of the Council of Churches in Indonesia, acknowledging a gift of £1133 for theological training from the National Council of Churches in New Zealad. “We are most appreciative of the concern which this gift symbolises—following so closely on the visit of some of our leaders to New Zealand. The gift is most significant evidence of the growing ties between the churches in our two countries ” Bishop Alexander Mar Theophilus, president of the Youth department of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malaber reported that with the New Zealand National Council of Churches’ gift of £5OO he was able to build a new dormitory for girls at his youth centre. The Amputee Rehabilitation Centre in Korea, which acknowledged a gift of £lOOO. said that it was now possible to employ a new social worker to serve the parents of crippled children. The National Council of Churches headquarters in Christchurch have also received letters from the diocese of P o ly n e s i a acknowledging a gift of £3OO towards flood relief, from the Pakistan Christian Council in Lahore who received £5OO for high school scholarships, and from the Council of Churches in Indonesia acknowledging a gift of £2250 for leadership training.
All these gifts were paid from the money sent in for the Christmas Appeal.
