MOD WEDDING

PERTH, May 30. The one thing that 20-year-old Norma Gray, of Perth, had in common with other brides when she was married in the Perth Registrar’s office last week was that she was nervous.

Out was the traditional full-length white wedding gown; in was a demure, kneelength blue-velvet dress with lace cuffs and bib, textured “beat” stockings and Tom .lones-style shoes with silver buckles. Her husband, 19-year-old baker, Brian Quick, almost stole the show. In place of dinner suit and bow tie he wore a longsleeved lilac shirt, a black felt

waistcoat, narrow black nylon tie, tapered grey trousers with buttoned-up sides and high-heeled Chelsea boots. Norma, a laboratory assistant from Glasgow, Scotland, met her London-bora husband only four weeks ago. “The most unusual wedding I have seen in 13 years,” said the district registrar for Perth, Mr C. N. Taylor, after the ceremony.
