PET SHEEP KILLED

Attacked By Alsatians

Two Alsatian dogs savaged two pet sheep, belonging to Mr and Mrs N. H. Morris, on the back lawn of 165 Peverel street yesterday afternoon. The sheep, aged four and one years, were the pets of Lynette, aged nine, and Brian, aged six—and “were also for mowing the lawn at the back of our place,” Mr Morris said last evening. He said that a constable and a traffic officer were at his home when he and his wife arrived home about 3.30 p.m. The younger sheep had been killed by the dogs. Flesh

had been eaten from its back and flanks, and wool pulled from it. “The older sheep had been ' so badly savaged about the head that three council men who chased the dogs off cut its throat to end its suffering,” Mr Morris said. Council dog rangers were called in when two Alsatian dogs were seen further down the street. One of the dogs was followed to its home, but the other dog eluded the trackers.
