WASHINGTON, April 13.
The United States Defence Department today awarded a contract of more than 1500 m dollars for production of the Fill fighterbomber—formerly known as the TFX.
Austraha has ordered this plane apd last week Britain took an option after scrapping plans to produce its own TSR2 nuclear bomber.
The contract was given to General Dynamics Corporation of Fort Worth, Texas, which has successfully completed development of the plane.
It covers the procurement of 431 planes for the United States Air Force and Navy.
A total of 45m dollars was approved today for production of the first 10 aircraft. The plane made its test flight last December. It is capable of speeds close to 2000 miles an hour.
