BOY KILLED
Others Hurt In Collision
A boy was killed, and two others were injured, one seriously, when the car they were in and a five-ton sheep truck and trailer collided near the corner of Walnut avenue and Carmen road about 8 p.m. yesterday.
Lindsay Howarth Morrison, aged 15, of 124 Emmett street.
The injured boys are, Ra Mana Kala, aged 13, of 88 Riselaw crescent, who suffered head injuries, and was on the seriously ill list at the Christchurch Hospital late last night: and Linton McAusland, aged 14, of 134 a Stapletons road, who suffered cuts to the head. His condition was reported to be satisfactory. The three boys were taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital in two St. John ambulances. The car was extensively damaged. The truck and trailer unit were unladen. The truck, owned by Burnetts Motors, Ltd., of Ashburton, was driven by John William Robinson, of 14 Tucker street, Ashburton. Dr. K. P. G. Mears, of Hornby, attended the boys at the scene of the accident.
Notifiable Diseases. —Four cases of infective hepatitis, one of salmonellosis, and one of ophthalmia neonatorum were reported in the Christchurch health district for the week ended February 20. There were no deaths.
