Turks Sell Flagship
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter) ANKARA, Mr llhami Sancar, Minister of Defence announced that the former Turkish flagship, the cruiser, Yavuz, is to be sold for 25,000,000 Turkish liras (about £1,000,000), its value as scrap.
Previously named Goben in the German Navy, Yavuz served in the Turkish Navy during World War I and became the pride of the whole Turkish Nation.
Even today, pictures of Yavuz can be seen on the walls of old Turkish coffee houses.
