THE LAST TRUSSING-IN” CEREMONY AT BURTON-ON-TRENT.—The ceremony, which dates back several hundred years, was held when an apprentice cooper reached the end of his apprenticeship. Michael Tunstall, of Linton, Derbyshire, climbed into this barrel he made himself, was showered with wood shavings, soot, and beer, and then rolled round the yard by his workmates. He was the last apprentice cooper at Burton, for breweries are now switching from barrels to metal canisters.
