AUCKLAND, Feb. 15. The captain of the British battleship. Rodney, which helped to sink the 35,000-ton German battleship, the Bismarck, during World War 11, Admiral Sir Frederick DalrympleHamilton, arrived in Auckland today. Sir Frederick DalrympleHamilton owns a property in Scotland near where the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Fergusson, used to live. Before leaving Scotland to take up his appointment in New Zealand. During World War I Sir Frederick Dalrymple-Hamil-ton was commander of a destroyer.

Later, he became commander of the 10th Cruiser Squadron and second in command of the Home Fleet. He went on Russian convoy duty and assisted in D-Day operations. In May, 1945, he was appointed Vice-Admiral at Malta and the central Mediterranean.

Sir Frederick DalrympleHamilton was knighted in that year, He later became flag officer for Scotland and then admiral commanding the naval mission in Washington. He retired from the Royal Navy in 1950.
