WOOL AGAIN IN DEMAND
Second Day Of Sydney Sale (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY, February 16. At the second day of Sydney series No. 12, good general competition was experienced from buyers acting for Japan, the Continent, United Kingdom, Eastern Europe and Australian mills, the official report said. Values for all descriptions of Merino fleece and skirtings were quoted firm when compared with the previous day’s closing levels. Rates for comebacks, crossbreds and carding wools remained generally unchanged. Average to good spinners style Merino wools were forward from the Monaro, southern and central tablelands.
These wools were mostly of medium to strong spinners quality and free or nearly free from vegetable fault, with only a few lots of fine or superfine quality. A smaller proportion of good topmaking wools were submitted which carried varying degrees of vegetable fault. Some 1400 bales of crossbreds were on offer and a limited quantity of carding wools.
Prices were:—Good 60 crossbreds, 72d; good average, 56’s, 62Jd.
