Waimairi Sewerage

Sir, —Mr Colligan has not replied fairly to the clipping which I enclosed in my letter on Waimairi sewerage. My objection is not to extending the sewer in Harewood road at the proposed Highstead road roundabout for reasons he has mentioned, but to extending the sewer in Harewood road • to the proposed motel site.—Yours, etc., RESIDENT. February 9, 1965. [The chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Mr J. I. Colligan) replies: “The council is not aware of any proposal to erect motels in Harewood road, but has been informed by the Department of Lands and Survey that consideration is being given to the provision of a hotel site in the Bishopdale shopping centre. Naturally, such a business could not be established unless a sewer connexion was available, and furthermore would require the reconstruction of the proposed new roading if the sewer was not laid before the initial road works are undertaken. The hotel site would be in the commercial area of Harewood road, which in the interests of road safety has to be reconstructed, as stated in my previous reply.”]
