FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone in the northern Tasman Sea and a depression and cold front near Tasmania are moving eastwards. Forecast: Canterbury.—North-westerlies predominating, strong in some exposed inland areas; weather cloudy and mild, apart from rain in the western high country and scattered light rain elsewhere tonight. Marlborough.—Fresh to strong west or northwest winds; weather partly cloudy, with scattered showers tonight; mild or warm temperatures. Nelson.—Fresh to strong winds from a westerly quarter; weather partly cloudy, with showers developing tonight; moderate temperatures. Buller and Westland. —Westerly winds, fresh or strong in exposed positions; overcast, with occasional rain and moderate temperatures. Outlook: fine in Nelson and Marlborough; showers elsewhere, but the showers clearing in Canterbury. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
