Cathedral Square

Sir, —As a rtewcomer to your most beautiful islands I am puzzled by your delightfully architectured cathedral, which should be the cynosure of all eyes. I should have thought that lawns surrounding it—such as we have in Salisbury, England—would have given the people of this city the opportunity to meditate, rest and admire this edifice. But perhaps the real reason for the buses being parked outside is to enable the Bishop and the congregation to “lift up their voices.” However, I regret to say that I find Cathedral square ugly and a sad disappointment. Beauty in building is for generations to admire and enjoy. I find that I hurry through your square, and evade it if possible.—Yours, ENIGMA.' February 12, 1965.
