AUCKLAND IN DOUBT
Le Chant Has To Qualify
"The Press’’ Special Service
INVERCARGILL, Dec. 22
The Wyndham horseman, R. Cameron, will go north tomorrow to drive C. C. Scott’s pair, Le Chant and Donald Dundee, at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday. Stylish Moccasins will not make the trip but will race at Gore and Winton.
Both Le Chant and Donald Dundee are acceptors for the Auckland meeting on Monday, but whether they make the trip is indefinite. Le Chant would require to win at Ashburton to qualify for her Auckland race.
Donald Dundee, which is to contest the Champion Stakes at Ashburton, is an acceptor for the Victoria Handicap at Auckland as a preliminary to the Great Northern Derby. His trip to Auckland will depend on the availability of air transport from Christchurch. At the present there will need to be a withdrawal before he gets on the plane. Le Chant's chances of getting to Auckland are about the same.
