Fire Engine Accident
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. A taxi smashed through the Kilbirnie recreation ground fence after being knocked 40ft in a collision with a Wellington South fire engine yesterday afternoon. The taxi-driver. Mr A. Fletcher, of Hataitai, suffered lacerations to the forehead and an ankle, and fireman P. Donnellan suffered a back injury. Both were treated at Wellington Hospital. The fire engine was answering a call at Kilbirnie and the collision occurred in Wellington road. The taxi spun off through jthe fence and the fire engine mounted the island in the middle of the road. : It was the second accident in Wellington in a week in'volving a fire engine.
