C.W.I. Money For Cancer
! The sum of £l5 raised by a' sales table and a raffle at the j half-yearly meeting of the Christchurch Group of the Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes will be donated to the Cancer Research Fund. Members brought woollen articles to unravel for the Crippled Children Society. An inter-institute competition resulted: —Burnside Institute 1, Burwood 2, Centre and Mairehau (equal) 3. Mrs M. Edwards (Spencerville) won the small bloom competi-! tion, Mrs R. Tanner (also: Spencerville) won the large! bloom, Mairehau institute were: hostesses for the meeting., Mrs H. G. Holmes (group con-, vener) presided. Mrs E| H. Hanmer, a former nurse in, Hong Kong, who had been In-; terned there during the war,; gave a talk, illustrated by slides, on a return visit she; made recently to Hong Kong.;
