Good Win By F. Hawken
The left-handed Auckland player, F. Hawken, was fully extended to maintain his unbeaten record as post-section play ended in the New Zealand billiards championships at Christchurch last evening. In his game with J. Proctor, of Southland, he was trailing on points until the final 15 minutes, but excelled himself to gain a narrow 65-point victory. AH games from today will be played on a one-life system, with the semi-finals and final extended over four hours.
Last year’s runner-up, W. Harcourt, of Wellington, was more convincing yesterdav in his game with S. Mollit i North Otago), while L. Napper (Otago) continued his good form to beat F. Holz (South Auckland), 433341.-
A. Twohill (West Coast) went within an ace of being eliminated in the final game of the evening. His opponent, I). Higgins (Canterbury) held the advantage throughout but with the score level seven minutes from the end, Twohill took full advantage of an easy position to score a break of 65.

Kennedy 190: W. Harcourt 444 (69, 54, 44) beat S. Moffit 304 (59); F. Hawken 489 beat J. Proctor 424 (44); L Napper 473 (46, 40) beat J. Weavers 327; E. Simons 735 (89, 75, ■ 65) beat S. Moses 335; L. Napper 433 beat F. Holz 341; H. Robinson 633 (85, 66, 59, 57) beat W. Glass 195: A. Twohill 471 (65) beat D. Higgins 412. Players to . qualify for the quarter-finals were: Yesberg, Harcourt, Hawken, Higgins. Twohill, Simons, Redmond and Robinson.
